Why use Sandberg's packaging translation services?

Your packaging communicates your company’s brand identity and personality, whether that’s through materials, colours, designs or slogans. However, when you localise this into a new linguistic and cultural context, you need to be careful to maintain your brand’s experience while also avoiding potential misunderstandings with your audience. We know exactly what’s needed to ensure that your packaging makes your brand stand out in the right way.
Partnering with us for accurate packaging translations means your customers don’t need to read something in their non-native language or deal with a low-quality translation. This leaves your audience with a positive overall buying experience and guarantees customer satisfaction right from the start. Plus, they can better understand what sets your brand apart, such as certain ingredients or health benefits, leading them to choose your product over those of your competitors.
Certain images, words and even colours can have different meanings and connotations depending on the language and context. That’s why when localising your packaging, you should prioritise working with experienced linguists who you can trust to understand not only the languages they work with, but also the target cultures and audiences.
If you want to build brand loyalty and a relationship with your customers, consider translating your packaging. Not only will they understand your product and feel more confident in their purchase, but it will also serve as proof that you prioritise making your product accessible to everyone, making them more likely to return to your brand in the future.
Many countries’ regulations stipulate that for a product to be sold in their market, its packaging must be translated into the local language. This includes European CE marking standards and medical device packaging regulations in the EU, US and UK. Our linguists have significant translation experience and, with guidance from your regulatory department, can help ensure compliance with language requirements.

What is Scandimix?

In the Nordic countries, there is an acceptable adaptation called “Scandimix” that can be used on packaging. This is a combination of Danish, Norwegian and Swedish and is permitted because the languages are very similar, so it saves space on the label while still allowing the product to be sold in all three countries. An example from a bag of liquorice sweets can be seen here.

Our packaging translation services

Translation & Revision

In line with ISO standards, our process guarantees high-quality translations that have gone through a careful process of proofreading and revision by talented linguists with industry experience.

Transcreation

Our transcreation solution means that your content is adapted from one language into another not only linguistically, but also culturally, ensuring that the impact on the target audience is positive and memorable.

Desktop Publishing (DTP)

As translation can sometimes change the length of a text, we can help adjust the layout and design of your packaging so that it remains eye-catching and attractive to your new audience.

Terminology management

When it comes to packaging, terminology needs to be accurate to your brand so that there are no misunderstandings. That’s why we give you control over your content and work with you to create, manage and store your company’s terminology in a termbase.

Compliance

Different countries have different regulations when it comes to product packaging, and our linguists will collaborate with your team to ensure you meet regulations and standards to sell your product in a new market.

Food packaging translation services

Food and beverage manufacturing is an industry in which regulations can vary greatly between countries, in terms of standards for production and packaging.

The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) prohibits many ingredients that the EU allows, and vice versa. When it comes to packaging, such as nutritional labels and ingredient lists, even the same ingredient may need to be labelled differently. For example, while food additives in the EU are assigned an E number and are labelled as such, in the US, that additive’s common name must be used (e.g. “Aspartame” as opposed to “E951”).

This is just one example of the many differing regulations across the world when it comes to food packaging. Our linguists can adapt the text as necessary according to your guidelines to make sure that your product can be sold in your new target market.

Medical device packaging translation services

Medical devices and pharmaceutical products also have strict regulations across the world, and inaccurate or missing translations could mean a product being recalled or missing out on approval of a drug.

You’ve spent years researching a product and running clinical trials to ensure its efficacy and that it adheres to international regulations. Don’t delay the time to market or risk the outcome of your investment by using low-quality translations of essential documentation and packaging.

Translation services for packaging manufacturers

If you’re a packaging manufacturer, localisation can come in handy in more ways than just the packaging itself. Looking to partner with more companies in other countries or regions? Translating and localising your own company’s materials, whether related to marketing, training, machinery or regulatory documentation, can make all the difference.
